Caring for a Patient with Alzheimer’s Disease Since August 2023

The first time I met her, her sleep pattern and eating habits were all over the place, which really worried me. So I started by reorganizing her daily routine and incorporating exercise.

Her original routine was going to bed at 12:00 midnight and waking up at 11:00 a.m.

I changed it to bedtime at 10:00 p.m., waking her once at midnight for the toilet, and getting her up for the day at 8:00 a.m.

For her diet:

  • I completely removed sweets and instant/processed foods that contained added sugar, and replaced them with foods that have natural sweetness.

  • I made carbohydrates the main focus of her meals but significantly reduced the overall amount.

  • She used to avoid all seafood, but now she really enjoys eating salmon.

  • Since chocolate is her favorite treat, I switched her to dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher).

  • I gradually reduced the sugar in her tea and coffee, and now she happily drinks both completely sugar-free.

First, I worked on getting her to eat eggs.

At the beginning, she could only manage half an egg, but now she eats them without any problem.

(The photos are actual images of her meals/progress.)

This video shows me bringing her to the gym I go to so she could start exercising.

Now, with the main goal of helping her use the toilet independently, we focus on squats — she practices 30 squats every day.

🤔I don’t know the details of her medical history, but it seems she started needing care in 2019.

In 2023, she could only walk about 200 meters, eating was very difficult and required a lot of trial and error, and she would do strange things every day that made no sense. I was truly exhausted and thought every single day, “I’m going to quit today.”

By 2025, the odd behaviors have decreased a lot, and caregiving has become much easier than before.

Let’s keep going strong, her and me!

An excellent caregiver should be an angel.

Keep going guys❤️
